2009 UAAP Cheerdance Competition

The FEU Cheering Squad, boasting of two members of the national gymnastics team, ruled the popular collegiate championship for the first time in 11 years with a score of 86.1 percent, ending a string of runner-up finishes in the last six seasons. FEU copped the crown in front of a 20,000-strong crowd at the Araneta Coliseum. FEU which last won the title in 1998, bagged its second overall crown since the league introduced the competition in 1994.

A sarimanok-inspired routine highlighted by acrobatic stunts propelled Far Eastern University on top of the 2009 UAAP cheerdance competition!

Ateneo de Manila University’s Blue Babble Battalion came in second while defending back-to-back champion the University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad settled for third. The scores of the squads were 86.1%, 83.4%, and 83.1%, respectively. Meanwhile, the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, who has eight championships ended up outside the top three.

A fraudster steals victim's banking information

A fraudster steals victim's banking information.

When we found out that our wallet, purse or important stuff were missing or stolen, most of the time we go on panic and talk to other people what happened. We should always keep in mind that some of this people might be one of the fraudsters who just want stay in the scene just to get some important information from us. So beware, if this happens to you just call the police to file a police report and call your banks immediately. Remember what mama keeps on telling you when you are younger...don't talk to strangers.

I have work for two international bank and as part of the verification of the customer they doesn't ask you to verify your ATM or Credit Card PIN over the phone except for phonebanking code or password which is totally different from an ATM/Credit Card PIN. The PIN is being generated automatically by the system and no one knows your PIN except you, even your issuing bank doesn't know the PIN that was given to you. If you forgot your PIN, the only way will be to call customer service and have them submit a request for a system generated PIN. Again, you should not be giving your PIN to anyone even to the "customer service" of your bank.

Another thing, you should always have a copy of phone numbers of your bank just to make sure that you are calling the correct customer service number.

Series 63 (The Uniform Securities Agent State Law)

Thank goodness it's over. I just took the Series 63 exam this morning and to my surprised I passed with a rating of 81% hahaha same rating with my Series 7 exam, what a coincidence. I was very surprised because the learning material was given 3 weeks ago after passing my Series 7 exam and I only started reading the material in the last 9 hours prior to the actual exam, lucky me!

"Bahala na si Batman", this is what I said to myself before taking the exam.

After five weeks of rigorous training, it finally paid off. Last thursday (May 07, 2009), I took the Series 7 (General Securities Representative Exam) in Prometrics, Ateneo de Manila. I passed the exam with a rating of 81% (passing is 70%) and when I checked my name yesterday it is already listed in The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) database of broker.

The exam was pretty hard and you will be needing all the neurons in your brains. Thank goodness I mastered the options before taking the exam. I made sure that I will be able to answer correctly all questions relating to options.

My guide for options:
MP: Market Price
SP: Strike Price
MG: Maximum Gain
ML: Maximum Loss
BE: Breakeven

If a customer short (sell) the stock and wants a protection, he should Long (buy) a call.
If a customer short (sell) the stock and wants an additional income, he should short (sell) a put.
If a customer Long (buy) the stock and wants a protection, he should Long (buy) a put.
If a customer Long (buy) the stock and wants an additional income, he should short (sell) a call.

Thanks to our excellent trainers Anna, Queenie and Jay for helping us throughout the entire series 7 training program. I wouldn't be able to pass this broker's exam without your help.

The Unreliable Philhosting.net

Beware of Philhosting (http://www.philhosting.net/). My unpleasant experience with this company started last year when I opted to transfer my domain registration from enom to philhosting. It was April 02, 2008 when I tried their service. Upon registration in their website, I tried their domain transfer service and they processed my payment right away (grabe ang bilis di ba). When I logged on to their website to check the status of the transfer, I noticed that the registration date and the expiration date of my domain was the same, next due date or expiration date should be 12 months from the date of registration or transfer (see photos below) and the status before was pending. On the very first day of my transaction with them I've been scammed already (Tignan mo nga naman ang katarantaduhan nila, kakabayad ko lang ng P500.00 para sa domain transfer nong April 2, 2008 tapos kailangan ko ulit magbayad on the same day ng P500.00 kasi expired na daw agad on the same day rin), I cannot do anything but to wait for their reply and let their support team fix the problem, they already charged me for the service that was not yet successfully implemented and until now March 14, 2009 the issue hasn't been resolved. I already renew my domain last December 2008 to my first registrar enom.com and I am not thinking of transferring again because of what I've experienced terribly with philhosting.

Take note, their e-mail was dated Dec. 18, 2008 and it's already March 14, 2009. What I want from them is an apology from their Boss and terminate the incompetent staffs who handled my queries.

I immediately sent a ticket (e-mail) to them regarding this :

I've transferred my website normandb.com from enom to philhosting but until now the status is still pending in your end. I already shoot an e-mail to my old existing registrar which is enom and they said that they already unlock my domain so it will be transferred to you guys. You already debited the charge on my credit card but the status is still pending on your end. Please check this matter. Thanks.

Hi,

It's been how many days since I initiated the transfer of my domain from enom.com to philhosting.net. I just want to know the status of the transfer because as I have check my account in 'MY DOMAIN' menu on your website it shows there that the status has been expired, that's odd because you already put the charged on my credit card and I'm hoping that the transfer will be completed successfully on the soonest possible time.

Normand B.

Here is the e-mail that I received from eNom tech support just to show you guys that the domain is indeed ready to be transfer to another webhosting company which in my case is the philhosting.net.

Thank you for proper verification of domain ownership.

The domain has been unlocked, ID Protect has been disabled for transfer and your authorization code has been sent to the following email address in in a seperate e-mail.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Your domain is ready for transfer.

As a note: the transfer process does take 5-7 days for the domain to arrive at the gaining registrar. Once started by you, there is nothing you need to contact us about again. You can however ask us to confirm the domain is pending transfer should you need to check.

I haven't received any e-mail or any reply from the ticket that I've raised in Philhosting so I have a notion that the domain transfer was successful. Last December, I received an e-mail from enom.com asking me if I want to renew my domain since it will about to expire on December 2008. I was surprised because I thought that the transfer was successfully completed. There was no notice coming from Philhosting that the transfer was unsuccessful and no refund from the charges as well.

I immediately called the attention of Tam from the Sales & Support Department of Philhosting regarding this matter and I was advised to e-mail the Billing Department for a refund. I sent an e-mail to the billing Department and they ask for my bank account number and routing code where the charges will be credited but until now (March 2008) no refund had been made (they charged my credit card for their stupid service within 24 hours but when it comes to refund they will take 48 years hahahahaha).

I don't know if they will still going to give a refund (it's only P500 pesos so it's pretty cheap pero sana ibinigay ko na lang yon as donation sa paglilinis ng pasig river hahahaha) but what I'm totally pissed off with this company (Philhosting) is they didn't even say or feel sorry for their mistake and they don't even have the courtesy to inform their clients on a timely manner that the service we requested from them was unsuccessful, I felt being duped, ripped off, scammed.

I strongly believe that this company violated the Republic Act 7394 - The Consumer Act of the Philippines.

To all the new blogger (like me) out there, think twice before using the unsatisfactory service of this company. As a new blogger who had a bad experience with Philhosting, the least that I can do is to warn you guys about their poor service.

Update: As of 18 March 2009
It seems that philhosting already found out about this blog and now I wasn't able to access my account with them. They deleted it (HOW UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNETHICAL). Instead of replying back and giving an alibi to their MODUS OPERANDI they opted to delete my account. So to all of you who is now reading this blog.....BEWARE OF PHILHOSTING.NET.

Meme: 7 Facts About Me

I was tagged by footiam a few days ago and I almost forgot to continue the chain hehehehe sorry for the delayed response, better late than never. I was puzzled by the title of the post "meme" because here in manila meme means "to go to bed" and it is only to be use for cute babies and toddlers ala baby talk. According to our dear friend wiki, Meme is simply the propagation of a digital file or hyperlink from one person to others using methods available through the Internet (for example, email, blogs, social networking sites, instant messaging, etc.). The content often consists of a saying or joke, a rumor, an altered or original image, a complete website, a video clip or animation, or an offbeat news story, among many other possibilities. An Internet meme may stay the same or may evolve over time, by chance or through commentary, imitations, and parody versions, or even by collecting news accounts about itself. Internet memes have a tendency to evolve and spread extremely quickly, sometimes going in and out of popularity in a matter of days. They are spread organically, voluntarily, and peer to peer, rather than by compulsion, predetermined path, or completely automated means. Now to continue with this meme, here are 7 facts about me:

1. I don't eat beef - I just don't like the smell of it and I get nauseous. No thanks shawarma.

2. I freak out every time I see a flying cockroach. So little nasty creepy creatures yet so powerful, they can overpower me hahahaha.

3. I no longer believe in religion especially in the Philippine Roman Catholic Church. Everytime I see their Bishops and Priests mingling with the Philippine Politics, I smile because I know that when they die they will go to their so called Hell.

4. Today is my Birthday. Happy Birthday to Me.

5. I have a Tribal-Dragon Tattoo on my left arm.

6. I always take a bath four times a day.

7. My name came from my mom's first boyfriend but that man is not my father hahaha because I look like my father when he was younger so I'm very sure that my Dad is my father.

I'm now passing over this meme to 7 other people and I hope the following will pick it up as well:

Qaia

Jepoy

Maxmiller

Che

Tentay

Chuva

Kape't Yosi

Three bars of chocolate and the Lester Syndrome

Last night, I have eaten three bars of chocolate before going to bed and when I woke up this morning I felt something wrong with my throat, a bit cold and nauseous. If there’s such thing as “chocolate intolerance” that could possibly be it. They should have labeled it “Chocolate gluttony is dangerous to your health” just like what we see in a pack of cigarettes (I’m a smoker since high school but never got sick due to smoking). I immediately search the internet about chocolate intolerance and found out that indeed chocolate could kill (pretty scary ha?).

This could be the reason why my youngest brother always eat the chocolates that we stock in the fridge if he don’t want to go to school on the following day. I remember my mom shouted at him “kumain ka na naman nyan tapos mamaya lalagnatin ka na, hay naku! wag kang aarte-arte dyan” but I never paid much attention to it because for me it doesn’t make sense, just imagine you just ate a chocolate and then suddenly got sick, si mader talaga may pagka-exag.

We know for the fact that chocolate is good for the brain and blood circulation that’s why we see lots of students eating chocolates during their tedious studying and memorizing mathematical formulas prior to their exams. But now, I realized that my youngest brother (Lester) is so brilliant that he re-discover the other benefits of chocolate for a student like him, starting today we will call it the "Lester syndrome".

A Message from a Happy Person

"Mas madaling ngaumiti kahit di ka masaya kaysa ipaliwanag kung bakit malungkot ka".

I retracted my resignation but don't get me wrong - I'm still happy working for "The world's local bank". The only regret that I ever had was choosing to work in our Commonwealth, Q.C. site (this is my second choice, my first choice was in Alabang). To all my readers out there, I'm so sorry if I haven't updated my blog in this past few days. I just don't have time because of my transfer to Quezon City. Everytime I arrived home from work I always go straight to my bed, take a rest and wake up the following morning fixing myself for work again. Just give me a few more days and I will be ok.

Ayan chuva, nagparamdam na ako hehehehe. Buhay pa rin ang blog ko.
